The Mobile app preview on the right of the builder is a simulated phone. It shows the open task type as field workers see it on the field app, and updates within moments of every change, so you can check the layout without saving and opening the field app.

  1. Mobile app preview: the preview area. The phone shows the task type name and the page name at the top, and the page’s components below, in the same order as in the page list.
  2. Main button: changes with the page, as on the field app. The Initial page shows Save task (the task is created), a middle page shows Next, and the last page shows Finish Task.
  3. Page navigation: Initial page and the page numbers jump to a page, and the arrows go to the previous or next page. The page you are on is highlighted. Clicking a page in the page list also opens it here.
What the preview shows:
  • Each component as it looks on the field app: text fields with their placeholder (Write Receiver Name here), photo boxes with a camera icon and a counter, signature pads with Sign here, and so on.
  • You can try the components: type into fields, pick options, open a Bill or a List and add items, or open a Subpage entry. Nothing you enter is saved.
  • Required fields and validation rules show their error messages, so you can check them before field workers do.
  • A page with no components says so.
When no task type is open, the preview says Please select a task type template to display in the mobile preview.
Click through every page with the page navigation while you build. It shows how the steps follow each other on the field app and helps you catch a page that is empty or a button that is missing.
The phone button at the top right of the page hides or shows the preview, and the app remembers your choice. On a smaller screen the preview opens from the same button as a side panel. The Version History uses the same preview to show an earlier version, with added and removed components marked.
