# Creating a List

> Set up a list on the Initial page and a field app page, then create tasks with lists from a spreadsheet.

## 1. Set up the Initial page list

1. On the **Initial page**, click **Add component** and choose **List**. Give it a clear **Title**, such as *Packing List*.
2. Pick the **List Type**.
3. Set **Add New Type** to **Picked from the list** and add the master items, such as *Invoice copy* and *Bubble wrap*. The header shows how many you have.
4. Leave **Visible** on.

## 2. Set up the field app page list

1. Add a **List** on the field app page and give it its own **Title**.
2. Set **Use List from** to the Initial page list. Its items appear here and can still be edited.
3. Pick the **List Type** the worker uses here, for example **Quantity** to count.
4. Turn **Add New** on or off. With **Typed in**, pick a **Validation Type**.
5. Click **Save**.

## 3. Check the preview

In the **Mobile app preview**, go to the field app page and tap **Open** on the list to see the items as the worker will.

## 4. Create tasks with lists

1. Open **Activities › Task**, click the arrow beside **New** and choose **Bulk**.
2. Pick the flow with the list and click **Download template**.
3. Fill in the spreadsheet and drag it onto the upload area.

| Sheet | Holds | List columns |
| - | - | - |
| **Main sheet** | One row per task | An **id** column that links the task to its list rows |
| **List sheet** | One row per item | **id** (the task's id; repeat it for each item), **name**, and for Checkbox **isChecked**, for Quantity **qty** |

Items are shown on the task in the order of their rows.
